Kevin Cone Joins Miami Dolphins
August 4th, 2015

The Miami Dolphins announced today that they have been awarded wide receiver Kevin Cone (Cleveland Browns) off waivers. To make room on the roster for Cone, the team waived guard
Dionte Savage.

The 6-3, 216-pound Cone joins Miami after being claimed off waivers from Cleveland where he spent the entire offseason as well as a stint on their practice squad during the 2014 season. He also spent time on the practice squads of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Arizona Cardinals in 2014. Prior to that, Cone was signed by Miami on April 3, 2014 before being released on August 30. Before coming to Miami, Cone spent the prior three seasons (2011-13) with the Atlanta Falcons on their practice squad and active roster before being declared a free agent on March 11, 2014. He originally signed with Atlanta as an undrafted college free agent on August 3, 2011. In his career, he has appeared in 29 regular season games and one playoff contest, and has recorded one reception for 12 yards. He primarily has seen action on special teams, totaling nine career special teams tackles (six in 2013 and three in 2012).

Cone played collegiately at Georgia Tech for two seasons (2009-10) where he recorded six receptions for 98 yards and one touchdown. He transferred to Georgia tech after playing one season at Shorter College (Ga.) in 2007. Born March 20, 1988, Cone attended St. Pius X Catholic High School in Atlanta, Ga.
