Dance

The St. Pius X Fine Arts Department offers a full-time dance program.  Whether a novice or a trained dancer, students may enroll in a dance course and receive elective credit.  The following courses are offered:

Dance I (Beginner Level)

Dance II (Intermediate Level)

Dance III (Advanced Level)

SPX Dance Company (Advanced/Pre-Professional Level)

The Philosophy...

St. Pius X dance courses are designed to teach the fundamentals of ballet and jazz.  Students also gain an introduction to modern, contemporary and cultural dance forms.  Students further develop their technique through classroom combinations, musical phrasing and choreography (based on level).  The curriculum focuses on ballet vocabulary, dance history, critical analysis, choreography and performance.  All students perform in the annual Spring Dance Concert and the NOVO Choreography Project.
