Pilgrimages

Each year at St. Pius X, students take part in a Class Pilgrimage. A pilgrimage is a physical journey that symbolizes our spiritual journey towards Heaven. The pilgrimages are an integral part of the St. Pius X program of Catholic Formation. While each year students visit a different location, the pilgrimages always include time for the Rosary, Holy Mass, time for prayer and reflection, and a Class Picnic.

Freshman Pilgrimage

The Freshmen Pilgrimage is held at Stone Mountain. Students ascend the mountain together as a Class followed by the Rosary and celebration of Holy Mass at the summit of the Mountain. A Class Picnic follows at Stone Mountain Park.

Sophomore Pilgrimage

The Sophomore Pilgrimage is held at Sacred Heart Church and the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, two of the oldest parishes in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. The day begins with a tour of Sacred Heart Church and the celebration of Holy Mass. The Class then walks in pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception for a tour and the Rosary. The day ends with a Class Picnic at Piedmont Park.

Junior Pilgrimage

The Junior Pilgrimage is held at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Monastery in Conyers, Ga. Throughout the day, students are given a glimpse into monastic life. The day begins with Holy Mass and is followed by a picnic lunch on the grounds of the monastery. After lunch students receive a tour of the Monastery grounds and are given a talk by the Abott of the Monastery followed by a lesson in chanting the Liturgy of the Hours. Students also attend Eucharistic Adoration.

Senior Pilgrimage

The Senior Pilgrimage is again held at Stone Mountain in the Spring. The Seniors come together to reflect on their past 3 years at St. Pius and also to look to the future, contemplating God's plan for their lives. Students ascend the mountain together as a Class followed by the Rosary and celebration of Holy Mass at the summit of the Mountain. A Class Picnic follows at Stone Mountain Park.
