St Pius Varsity Baseball wins Game 3 in the State Quarterfinals!

Pike County didn't stand a chance on Wednesday, as St. Pius X Catholic Golden Lions Varsity captured a blowout 8-1 win in seven innings at Pike County.  After the marathon double header the night before, that included a 12-inning game that went into the wee hours of the night, St. Pius came back on the second day fired-up and ready to take control in this the deciding Game 3 to send the team up to Cartersville High School for the state AAA Semi-Finals round!

St. Pius scored four runs in the fourth on a groundout by Justin Yestrumsky, and a two-run home run by Quincy Nieporte. Nieporte racked up three RBIs on one hit for St. Pius.

Will Robertson picked up the win for St. Pius X, allowing only one earned run, four hits and one walk while striking out two over seven innings of work.

St. Pius jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Grant Williams started the rally for St. Pius with a double.

The lead stayed with St. Pius after the second, when a run scored on an RBI double by Jack Pelt.
