St. Pius X Community Gives the Gift of Life
March 15th, 2013

A Special Message from Mr. Mark Kelly

Dear St. Pius X families & friends,

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your overwhelming support of our blood drive this past Tuesday, March 12. As you know, we dedicated this drive to Mr. Matt McIntyre, and what a tribute to him it was!

Between students, parents, alumni, and friends we had 252 people show up to give. We collected 204 units of blood. The American Red Cross estimates that for every unit of blood given, three lives are saved. That is 612 people! Most importantly we were able to send a message of “hope” to Matt and let him know how much we love him and how much we are praying for him. He is a member of our “family” and this is what families do. I also wanted you to know that I just received information from the Red Cross. I was informed that there are only four Catholic high schools in the United States that have EVER had a bigger blood drive than we had Tuesday!

I hope that all of you will consider giving blood on a regular basis. It is truly the gift of life. Thank you for being who you are.

Mark Kelly
