Senior Gymnast Commits to Southern Connecticut
March 23rd, 2012

Congratulations to senior Jennifer Rochefort who has verbally committed with Southern Connecticut State University, where she was the gymnastics team’s top recruit. Jennifer has been a gymnast since the age of four, when she began with a tumbling class. Currently she trains at the Georgia Gymnastics Academy in Lawrenceville, where she is serving her second year as co-captain of the team.

Jennifer currently trains 20 hours a week, year-round as a Level 10 gymnast (the highest level, aside from elite, which is an Olympic level). She has accomplished much in her career thus far, including being named Most Inspirational Gymnast, Most Dedicated Gymnast, in addition to her numerous wins in competition. Last year, her team took the 2011 State Championships for the first time in Georgia Gymnastics Academy’s history. At the 2011 National Gymnastics Challenge, she placed third on bars and beam (which happens to be her favorite event) and second all-around. Jennifer began this season placing first all-around at the Ozone Invitational and at the Tiger Paw Classic. At the Cloverleaf Invitation, Jennifer placed first on both the bar and beam events and was named third all-around. A video from this competition can be found online here

This past Sunday, March 25 Jennifer and her team competed at the State Meet in Cartersville, where they were named State Champions for the second year in a row.  Jennifer placed first on the bar and on the beam and received the title of All-Around State Champion.  She will compete in the Region Meet in mid-April.

Congratulations and best of luck next year at Southern Connecticut, Jennifer!
