Donors Needed for Fall Blood Drive October 10
September 30th, 2013
Did you know that one pint of blood can save up to three lives? That is the way we have always begun our request of you, to get involved in the St. Pius X blood drive.
This year it is personal. In December, Mr. Matt McIntyre our own English teacher and softball coach was diagnosed with leukemia. Since that time he has undergone a series of chemotherapy treatments. He is currently preparing for a bone marrow transplant. He has received a great deal of blood and will need more. Matt and his wife have four small children. The oldest is seven. He and his family need our help.
We will be having our fall Blood Drive on Thursday, October 10th in the SPX gym. The drive will be dedicated to Mr. McIntyre. We are actively soliciting parent donors for this blood drive. We don’t normally do this. If you are willing to help Mr. McIntyre
and are able to donate blood, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with your preferred appointment time between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
We cannot accommodate walk-up donors, so please email us and we will be glad to work out an appointment time with you. Student sign-ups will be in the cafeteria during lunch on October 1st and 2nd. The Blood Drive does count as a Work of Mercy so do encourage your student to participate in this worthy cause.
The McIntyre’s are part of the Pius family. At St. Pius X we seek to help everyone but in particular we help family members. I know this time will be no different. Thank you for your support!
