Alumni Artwork on Display in Atlanta
December 4th, 2012
The Emily Amy Gallery will present You Can’t Get There From Here, the first solo show for St. Pius X alumna Jennifer Cawley ’87. Jennifer currently teaches art classes at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School in Fayetteville while she completes her MFA at Savannah College of Art and Design-Atlanta. She will display many of her surrealist pieces alongside those of her fellow students from SCAD. The exhibit will be open to the public from November 30 to December 31, 2012. Opening December 7 at the Ferst Center for the Arts at Georgia Tech, alumni Whitney Wolf '01 will present his work entitled Memory and Identity. In the exhibit, Whitney will “examine the relationship and nature of specific places in my personal history where my memory is seen as an intensely visual and internal art through which I come to identify myself with. The line between a simple sketch and a completed large painting becomes blurred like a vague memory; a story about a place and a time.” The exhibit will be open through the end of the month, Monday through Friday, by appointment only. Whitney joined the Pius community in November 2011 to offer insight in the Visual Arts at the Career Forum and later came back to act as juror for the St. Pius X Eighth Annual Juried Arts Exhibition in February.
