FAQ

HOW MANY OPENINGS DO YOU ANTICIPATE FOR NEXT YEAR?

A:  We will enroll 275 freshmen next fall.  We do not accept applicants for the senior class.  We will have limited openings in the 10th and 11th grades (based on attrition).

HOW MANY STUDENTS APPLY FOR THESE OPENINGS?

A:  The number varies each year, but (unfortunately) we always have many more qualified applicants than we have openings.

WHAT TEST SCORES ARE REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION TO ST. PIUS X?

A:  Test scores are one important aspect of the admissions process, but they are never the sole basis for a decision.  We review each application "holistically."  Academic performance (grades), recommendations, student behaviors, extracurricular involvement (school, church, community) are all considered in admissions decisions.

WHO MAKES THE DECISIONS?

A:  Our admissions committee is comprised of administrators, counselors, and teachers. This committee recommends students for admission to the principal.

DOES IT HELP IF MY CHILD IS INVOLVED IN EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES?

A:  Yes. Because our intention is to develop the total person we seek students who will benefit from and become involved in a variety of activities.

WOULD ADDITIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS HELP MY STUDENT?

A:  No.  We only read the three required recommendations.

ARE INTERVIEWS REQUIRED?

A:  No.  If we need additional information we will contact you.

WOULD IT BE HELPFUL FOR MY FAMILY TO ARRANGE A MEETING WITH THE ADMISSIONS STAFF?

A:  Unfortunately, we are unable to meet with students and parents to discuss admissions.  You are welcome to take a group tour which is followed by a Q & A session.

ARE SIBLINGS AND APPLICANTS WHOSE PARENTS ARE ST. PIUS X ALUMNI GIVEN PREFERENCE FOR ADMISSION?

A.  They are not guaranteed a place but are given extra consideration.
